Dear Muslim Friend,
As a Christian we agree and stand with Muslims on several issues. We agree that America needs to repent of its many sins, such as abortion, sexual immorality, idolatry, racism, drug use and drug trafficking, etc. Christians are often asked by our Muslim friends “how come Christians do not accept Muhammad as a prophet?”. This letter attempts to answer this question by referring to the literature of Islam. Please note that this is not an attack on Muslims, we love Muslims, it is merely an examination of Muslim literature. If you do not like what is written here your objection is not with the Christian, but your own religious literature.
An Examination of Scriptures from the Quran, Hadith, and the writings of the Great Islamic Scholars.
If Muhammad was a prophet what kinds of things would we expect to find in the Quran and Hadith? Muslims claim the Quran was written by God and recited to Muhammad and has been preserved since then. If this is the case there should not be a single error or foolish statement in there. The existence of a foolish statement or error would be proof that Muhammad was not a prophet of God. Sahih or sound hadith’s contain verified historical accounts of what Muhammad taught. If a sahih hadith indicates that Muhammad taught something false or foolish then it likewise proves Muhammad was not a prophet of God. Here are a collection of scriptures from the Quran and Hadith.
After you read them perhaps you will understand why Christians, despite our love and respect for the Muslim people do not believe Muhammad is a prophet of God.
Does the Sun set in a muddy pool?
During a section of historical narrative where Allah is doing the narrating we read.
(Keep in mind that historical narrative is always meant to be taken literally)
Surah 18:86 “When he (Zul-qarnain) reached the setting of the sun, he found that it set in a pond of murky water.”
The fact that the great Islamic scholars (such as Tabari, Zamakhshari, Baydawi, etc…) took this literally is demonstrated from their writings. Here is the proof. “Abu Dharr (one of Muhammad’s close companions) was with Muhammad during the sunset. Muhammad asked him: ‘Do you know, O Abu Dharr where this sun sets?’ He answered; ‘God and His apostle know better.’ Muhammad said: ‘It sets in a spring of slimy wather’” – Zamakhshari The Kahshaf (3rd Edition, Vol. 2 p. 743, 1987)
“The sun sets in a slimy spring: that is, a well which contains mud. Some of the readers of the Quran read it, ‘…a hot spring’, thus the spring combines the two descriptions. It was said that Ibn ‘Abbas found Mu’awiya reading it (as) hot. He told him, ‘IT is muddy,’ Mu’awiya sent to Ka’b al-Ahbar and asked him. ‘Where does the sun set?’ He said in water and mud and there were some people. So he agreed with the statement of ibn al-‘Abbas. And there was a man who composed a few verses of poetry about the setting of the sun in the slimy spring.” – Baydawi The Lights of Revelation (p. 399)
Tabari went so far as to say the pool where the sun sets contains lime (see the Concise Interpretation of Tabari p. 19 of part 2)
Do Muslims have one intestine while Non-Muslims have seven?
Muslim vol. III, nos. 5113 Chapter DCCCLXII “A Believer Eats In One Intestine Whereas A Non-Believer Eats In Seven Intestines Ibn Umar reported Allah’s Messenger as saying that a non-Muslim eats in seven intestines while a Muslim eats in one intestine.” (see also nos. 5114-5120)
Does Satan Stay in your Nose Over Night?
Bukhari vol. IV, no. 516 “Satan stays in the upper part of the nose all night.” Footnote (1) We should believe that Satan actually stays in the upper part of one’s nose, though we cannot perceive how, for this is related to the unseen world of which we know nothing except what Allah tells us through his Apostle Mohammed.
Muslim vol. I, no. 462 Abu Huraira reported: The Apostle of Allah said, “When any one of you awakes from sleep and performs ablution, he must clean his nose three times, for the devil spends the night in the interior of his nose.”
Would a 50 year old “Prophet of God” have sex with a 9 year old girl?
Burkhari vol. V, nos. 234 Narrated Aisha: The Prophet was engaged to me when I was a girl six years old…I was playing in a swing with some of my girl friends…Unexpectedly Allah’s Apostle came to me in the afternoon and my mother handed me over to him. At that time I was a girl of nine years of age.
Burkhari vol V, no. 236 The Prophet…married Aisha when she was a girl of six years of age and consummated that marriage when she was nine years old.
Slavery, Islam & The Bible
The Bible condemns slave trading in 1 Timothy 1:10 “These laws are for people who are sexually immoral, for homosexuals and slave traders*, for liars and oath breakers, and for those who do anything else that contradicts right teaching” The Bible clearly states that some one who practices slavery contradicts right teaching. (* this word is sometimes translated men-stealers or kidnappers it is also used of slave traders. The following is a quote from A Concise Greek-English Dictionary of the New Testament by Barclay M. According to the writings of Islam Mohammad was a White man who owned Black slaves.
Burkhari vol. 1, no. 63 While we were sitting with the Prophet in the mosque, a man came riding on a camel. He made his camel kneel down in the mosque, tied its foreleg and then said, “Who among you is Mohammed?” At that time the Prophet was sitting among us leaning on his arm. We replied, “The white man reclining on his arm.”
Burkhari vol. IV, no. 744 Narrated Ismasil bin Abi Khalid: I heard Abu Juhaifa saying, “I saw the Prophet and Al-Hasan bin Ali resembled him.” I said to Abu Juhaifa, “Describe him (i.e. Allah’s Apostle) for me.” He said, “He was white and his beard was black with some white hair in it. He promised to give us 13 young she-camels, but he died before we got them.” (see also Burkhari vol. II, no. 122 Burkhari vol. II. no. 141)
Muhammad’s black slave Mahran recalls his interaction with Muhammad:
"The apostle of God and his companions went on a trip. (When) their belongings became too heavy for them to carry, Muhammad told me,`Spread your garment.’ They filled it with their belongings, then they put it on me. The apostle of God told me, `Carry (it), for you are a ship.’ Even if I was carrying the load of six or seven donkeys while we were on a journey, anyone who felt weak would throw his clothes or his shield or his sword on me so I would carry that, a heavy load. The prophet told me, `You are a ship"’ (see Ibn Qayyim, pp. 115-116; al-Hulya, Vol. 1, p. 369, quoted from Ahmad 5:222).Tabari also records this episode (in his Chronicles, Volume 2 p. 216, 217, 218)
"Muhammad had many male and female slaves. He used to buy and sell them, but he purchased (more slaves) than he sold, especially after God empowered him by His message, as well as after his immigration from Mecca. He (once) sold one black slave for two. His name was Jacob al-Mudbir. His purchases of slaves were more (than he sold). He was used to renting out and hiring many slaves, but he hired more slaves than he rented out.” Islamic scholar Ibn Qayyim al-Jawziyya "Zad al-Ma’ad" (Part I, p. 160),
Do the Jews believe Ezra is the son of Allah?
Quran 9.030 PICKTHAL: And the Jews say: Ezra is the son of Allah, and the Christians say: The Messiah is the son of Allah. That is their saying with their mouths. They imitate the saying of those who disbelieved of old. Allah (Himself) fighteth against them. How perverse are they!
