SPEAKING AND SINGING AT THE FLORIDA WOMEN’S PRISON

February 23, 2025

I had a lot of fun in prison!

It was a two hour chapel service, and I led the whole thing, so we ended up singing and singing at the end. It was so special! I shared my testimony for the first hour that went by fast, and they asked questions…and we ended with music, and lots of it.

We all had a wonderful time, singing everything from “The Old Rugged Cross” to “Victory in Jesus” to “This Little Light of Mine” and “I’ll Fly Away.” I sang songs I had written, too, like “Honest Life” and “I’m the Girl I Used to Know Again.”

I donated one hundred of my books for the women, ‘Happiness No Man Required–50 Tips for Single Women to be Happy With or Without a Man’ who came to the chapel service tonight. I would say seventy women were there, so they will be the first ones to get the books. They plan to invite more women when I return.

They were all very engaged, from asking questions about my testimony to dancing around singing with me.

It is always inspirational seeing people in prison filled with joy, thanks to Jesus being with them there.

We all hugged and said we loved each other and look forward to whenever I can come back.

They have 1300 women at the Florida Women’s Reception Center, the FL Women’s Prison in Ocala, FL. No cell phones were allowed in, so I took this from my car around 5:30 before the chapel service began at 6:00.

This will be an ongoing outreach of Lighting the Way. The women are bringing their books back for me to sign next time. They even opened up and shared their testimonies with me. I look forward to being back, as my schedule allows, aiming for every six months.
