Seeker Friendly Southern Baptists and Documentation on the Purpose Driven Movement

Rick Warren’s Global Peace Plan is not making peace with the brethren in Christ but is dividing the church.

If you think Rick Warren’s ministry is making peace in Africa, then I invite you to speak to Loren Davis, a evangelist in Africa, who is picking up the pieces of the countries in Africa that Rick Warren has left in his path. See if he says whether or not Rick Warren is a peacemaker throughout Africa.

Precious Persecution Verses

Joe Schimmel brought out the following verses this morning in his sermon. The whole sermon also brought to mind a new favorite passage of mine: Mark 10:29-30. I could have listened to him preach on persecution for hours. It was a great sermon.

Luke 6:22 (favorite verse of the day)
Prov. 29:10
Matthew 10:16, 20-28
Acts 4:13 (Disciples were called "ignorant" and "unlearned" men; God got all the glory for their knowledge; people were jealous of the power of the Holy Spirit in them and persecuted them)
John 15:18-19 (Jesus says to abide in Him…and then He prepares them for persecution)
1 John 3: 12-13
Matthew 24:9-14
John 16:1,2
Isaiah 5:20
Daniel 7:25, 12:7 (Antichrist shatters the power of the "holy people"–Satan attacks God and His people)
Revelation 12:9
Revelation 13:4
Revelation 22:18-19

Is Hell Unfair?

What happens to people who have never heard the name of Jesus? Is God unfair to send them to hell simply because they never had the opportunity to hear the gospel? The Bible doesn’t see it that way: “For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even His eternal power and Godhead, so that they are without excuse . . .” (Romans 1:20-21).

God doesn’t send men to hell because they haven’t heard the name of Jesus. We have no way of knowing how God communicates with people. Surely, the gospel went out from Jerusalem and Judea to the uttermost parts of the earth. God obviously had to consider the fact that there were no jet airplanes, no modern means of transportation, and that people on the other side of the earth could hardly be charged in the same category with people who were right there in Jerusalem. So, he must have had a plan for dealing with them. The Judge of the whole earth will do what is right.

He sent us into the world to preach the gospel so that men might be saved; that does not mean God doesn’t take into consideration the fact that people—through no fault of their own—have not heard the gospel. I think that particular truth is very clearly taught in Romans 1, which goes on to say how God reveals Himself to them. (Don’t ask me exactly how, because I don’t know.)

Dr. Frank Gaebelin once told me about a missionary who had gone to a part of the world where the Gospel had never been preached. Dr. Gaebelin’s story was very well-documented, and he talked personally with this man:

A certain missionary felt a compulsion to go to a specific part of Africa. When he arrived in the village and started preaching Christ, he was amazed by the response. Instead of the indifference or even outright hostility he expected to encounter, people were clearly astonished by his words and very happy to see him. They started talking with each other, buzzing like a huge beehive, and he asked them, “What is the problem? Have I done something wrong?”

“No,” they answered. “But you’re talking about the Sin-bearer.

“The Sin-bearer!he repeated, amazed at this revelation. Yes, he agreed, Jesus was the Sin-bearer but how did they know that? One of the elders of the tribe smiled broadly at him, and told him there was someone he must meet. They led him to small house on the outskirts of the village, where an elderly man waited to speak with him. It was a conversation he would never forget. The man told him he knew the world was created by an eternal, good being, and that he had sought for Him. He’d actually prayed for God to reveal Himself to him, and the Lord had answered his prayer. He gave this man, this pagan back in darkest Africa, a vision of Christ on the Cross! And he didn’t understand anything except that there was a Sin-bearer, and that the message would come to them.

The missionary told Dr. Gaebelin, “It was the easiest preaching I’ve ever done. They were waiting for me. I preached and practically the whole tribe got saved! The old man’s face shone like a saint’s face.”

I believe that man had a vision of Christ. God communicated with him and the gospel came to them as a result of that. There are enough instances of this in China and in other parts of the world to tell me that God cares about these people.

I have to believe that the God of the Bible is just. If men go to hell, they go not because they haven’t heard the name of Jesus, but because they turn away from the knowledge that God makes available to them. They could turn towards Him instead of away, and if they do, He will send the gospel to them. I believe that is the truth.

God is not going to arbitrarily send people off to hell if they turn—even blink—in his direction. He does not want any to perish. (2 Peter 3:9)

Timeline for the Goddess Theologies in Christianity

Following is a Timeline for the Sophia/goddess theology that has become an influence in the United Methodist Church. It should be noted that this is by no means a comprehensive list; other events of this nature have happened, but a lack of space precludes our including them on this list.

Hebrew Roots and the Occult

Dear Dwayna,

The Talmud and Kabbalah are integrated, but it’s difficult for those in MJ/HR to see it. They think that the "Jewish sages" or sages or ancient writings, ancient teachers, Rabbinical writings are just an "Hebraic mindset" and are from what Jesus/Paul taught. The Talmud is considered "oral Torah" passed down from Mt Sinai. However, there is no recorded evidence of such in the OT.

Testimonial Against the Hebrew Roots

Dear Dwayna,

…I thank God for His grace and mercy for sending someone in for me to show me the truth of the lies that I believed as truth. Your article on the errors of this movement is right on, and I was like – WOW – this woman has done her homework! I used to follow many of the more visible leaders of the movement via the internet, as well as support their ministries with donations and purchased product. I consider it an "investment" in which the dividends are now paying off through my ability to expose this whole venue as false to whomever God leads me.

Evangelism Training Program

Giving Your Life Away is a program designed for youth groups and students who wish to work at the Lighting The Way booths. The purpose is to train them in evangelism, and invest in their lives, as they are investing in the lives of others. If, by the end of the day, the students pass the test to Part One, they are rewarded a prize. The test is to find one Scripture, per topic mentioned below, in an unmarked Bible, without a tract for reference. This teaches people how to lead others to salvation by the Scriptures. This equips Christians for evangelism and makes the most of a day of witnessing in Venice. They have all day to practice, but by the end of the day, they will be tested in order to win the prize. Hopefully, everyone will want to return for a second visit to witness in Venice. Giving Your Life Away– Part Two is for the second visit, Giving Your Life Away– Part Three for the third, and so on. All parts to Giving Your Life Away involve Scripture memorization.

LTW In Church

Let Us Bring an Apologetics Ministry to Your Church for Free

We are in the beginning stages of something very exciting! Apologetics is not just for the lost but also for the saved. God’s people need to know, not just what we believe, but why we believe it! This new facet will involve sending our articles on apologetics (from our file bins in the street ministry locations) to churches for free for distribution by a designated leader at the church.

Would you like to have an apologetics ministry in your church? Let us send you articles for free on apologetics for Christians in your church to copy and distribute at an apologetics table to Christians who want to research and contend earnestly for the faith—we have topics on the New Age “Secret”, the Dalai Lama, Buddhism, Hinduism, how to witness to Mormons (Mormonism vs. Christianity), and more.

Several Christians from all over America and abroad have written asking, “How can I get a copy of the articles on apologetics alphabetized in your file bins in street ministry?” Well, we are now working to get these articles to Christians in our new facet of ministry, “LTW in Church.”

With the weather too cold to set up the street ministry in NYC I am focusing this winter on “LTW in Church.” We envision getting our articles, which we keep in our file bins at our booth locations, to churches who are interested in having a table of apologetics in their church. (We are transferring them all onto CD in PDF format). One article could be featured per week at a table where the church members could stop by and take copies for free. We have everything from Mormonism, Buddhism, the Dalai Lama, Scientology, Jehovah’s Witnesses, Islam, and world religions vs. Christianity to the contemplative prayer movement, emergent church practices, and the perils of evangelical feminism and calling God “mother.”

This new facet of “LTW in Church” will just involve our articles—we want to offer them to key people at churches to make copies and make available to God’s people! If you are a pastor or a church member anywhere in the world who would like to lead such a ministry, please email me. We will let you know when the first batch of articles has been transferred to a CD for mailing purposes. From the CD the leader of this ministry at any church (it could be a secretary or any Christian with a love for apologetics) will work with the ministry pastor or evangelism ministry to print off one article per week or month to give out for free to church members. The only cost to the churches will be the cost for paper in printing off the articles.

Just picture this: at the end of the church service, as people are leaving, they can stop by a table where at least one article will be featured per week on apologetics. They can know about the little apologetics table, stop by, looking forward to which article will be featured per week to grow in the Lord on various topics, encouraged to “contend earnestly for the faith” as we are commanded to do in Jude 3 via an apologetics outreach to Christians. For instance, a table could be set up in halls or parlors for Christians (similar to the tables we set up in street ministries to the lost) or articles could be studied in small groups or Sunday School classes. Apologetics is not just for the lost but also for Christians, so this idea thrills me just as much, if not more, than our tables in marketplace street locations.

We also want to emphasize that we desire to show respect for pastors and do not in any way want this to imply that pastors are not doing a good job. We love pastors and sound sermons. God knows that there is rarely a day that goes by that I don’t listen to a sound sermon. We hunger for great sermons and grow from them. We do not offer this with the intent of “preaching” by any means—just to make articles on apologetics available to church members. The pastors simply cannot do everything. Hopefully, a key person in a church will be assigned to the project of printing off an article per week or so and making copies of the article for church members to take for free. Every week could feature a different article.

For example, with The Secret DVD and popular book, many Christians might want to know what it is all about or how its message goes against the Bible. Well, pastors simply cannot have the time to study such error and write articles about it, so we have done that work and will provide articles. The same would go for The Da Vinci Code and The Lost Tomb of Jesus hoax or “Harry Potter and the Gay Wizard”, etc.

I am very, very busy working on getting all of our articles on CD to do this expediently for God’s glory. One Sunday School class in TN is going through our articles, taking one article per week, and growing in apologetics. I hope to have a testimonial soon from them. We look forward to many testimonials from Christians in churches, rejoicing that God has brought apologetics—contending for the faith against lies about Jesus in our postmodern culture—to ministries in the church. I am also thankful for my friends at Shepherd’s Community Church in CO who are helping transfer the hard copies of articles to PDF format on CD, much more conducive for mailing.

For these articles, we will be working with Walter Martin Ministries, Witnesses for Jesus, Christian Research Net contributors, Berit Kjos (Crossroad), Kurt Van Gorden, Daniel Mann, Gregory Reid, Richard Bennett, Mike Gendron, Discernment Ministries, Apostasy Alert (Cult Link), Al Dager (Media Spotlight), Institute for Creation Research, Answers in Genesis, Seek God and other sound ministries of apologetics to “light the way” out of dark lies about Jesus and counterfeit gospels with the LIGHT OF GOD’S GLORIOUS WORD defeating pop Gnostic error with a warning to God’s people in church. Just writing about it makes me realize that this has got to be close to God’s heart. He does not want His people led astray. “But sanctify Christ as Lord in your hearts always ready to make a defense to everyone who asks you to give an account for the hope that is in you, yet with gentleness and reverence.” (1 Peter 3:15).

Please allow us the privilege of bringing this ministry of apologetics to your church, with answers based on the Bible in the Spirit of the Lord, to work together with pastors and Christians all over the world in church for Him!
