High Places

This month I went to the Grand Canyon with my mother for a surprise excursion from Las Vegas. I was overwhelmed with the beauty of God’s creation. As I was reading the Bible last night, the Lord brought the magnificent splendor of His majesty to mind once again. And He made my heart glad.

Then today, after being at the booth at Venice, I came home with a heart still filled with this peculiar, lasting joy. It was like I couldn’t stop smiling, like I didn’t want the day to end! Imagine that, after a day in that filthy Venice Beach with the smell of pot and incense coloring the boardwalk and the air blue with profanity. Yet, it had another strange affect on me, feeling the Holy Spirit with me and sensing His pleasure over me, gregarious with the lost, telling strangers the Good News of such a Savior, losing myself–my fears, brokenness, and limitations– in His work for all of eternity once again.

"For I am convinced that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, nor height, nor depth, nor any other created thing will be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord." (Romans 8:38-39)

"The heavens are telling the glory of God…the precepts of the Lord are right, rejoicing the heart…the fear of the Lord is clean, enduring forever. The judgments of the Lord are true; they are righteous altogether; they are more desirable than gold, yes, than much fine gold…sweeter than the honey and the drippings of the honeycomb. Moreover, by them Your servant is warned; in keeping them there is great reward…Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in Your sight, oh Lord, my rock and my Redeemer."(Psalm 19)

"I will bless the Lord who has counseled me. Indeed my mind instructs me in the night. I have set the Lord continually before me. Because He is at my right hand, I will not be shaken. Therefore my heart is glad, and my glory rejoices. My flesh also will dwell securely." (Psalm 16:7-9)

"He makes my feet like hinds’ feet and sets me upon my high places." (Psalm 18:33)

"And Your gentleness makes me great. You enlarge my steps under me, and my feet have not slipped." (Psalm 18:35-36)

Looking forward to another night with God,

Dwayna

But He Answered Him Nothing

In discerning the spirits and motives of man, Jesus did not answer everyone. In witnessing, we don’t have to answer everyone to be like Jesus. Sometimes it is best to say nothing. “…many believed in His name…but Jesus, on His part, was not entrusting Himself to them, for He knew all men.” (John 2:23-24)

The Emerging Church

Three Major Problems with the Philosophy Behind the Emerging Church

Problem #1:

Culture (i.e. postmodernism) dictates church practice (i.e. methodology).

Verses to Show Man’s Depravity Apart from God’s Grace

1 Corinthians 15:1-4 "Now I make known to you…the gospel…by which you are saved…that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, and that He was buried, and that He was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures…"

Bible Answer Man Sues Apologists (Part Two)

APOLOGISTS SPEAK OUT:

Back when I used to listen to “The Bible Answer Man” radio show with Hank as host, I recall books being promoted by Norman Geisler on the program. Interestingly, he was lauded as a great apologist by Hank, given his current stand against this lawsuit (as quoted below). We can only presume that this is of authentic significance, testifying to a concern beyond a mere conflict of interest. (See the section below which I have bolded for emphasis):

Bible Answer Man Sues Apologists (Part One)

The self-styled “Bible Answer Man” will have to give an answer to God someday.[i] He will have to give an answer for why he has sued a Christian brother and is now suing another Christian brother in a court of law and disobeying the Bible, the Bible he quotes famously as the “Bible Answer Man.” Hank additionally is siding with the “Local Church” in a lawsuit against apologists and Harvest House Publishing.[ii] Is Hank’s foray into these legal battles indicative of biblical incredulity on his part in light of passages such as 1 Corinthians 6, or does he just not know what 1 Corinthians 6:1, 7-9 states? Shouldn’t the “Bible Answer Man” revere all chapters of the Bible from which he teaches? Would that standard be too high?

Global Warming: Green Lies and Amazing Truths

In spite of Al Gore’s "Inconvenient Truth," there’s no scientific consensus on human-caused global warming! His claim that Greenland’s ice will melt, causing oceans to rise twenty feet, is science fiction, not reality. Unadulterated scientific facts show us that, since 2005, Greenland’s ice mass has been growing, not shrinking! So has its population of polar bears.

EMNR (Open Letter from Walter Martin Ministries)

…In light of the above circumstances, it is with sadness that we withdraw our membership in Evangelical Ministries to New Religions. We strongly urge all EMNR members to voice their concerns regarding this situation to the Board of EMNR, and to withdraw their membership until accountability has been restored to this ministry.

CRI Connection

In late 1997, Darlene Martin asked us to investigate allegations against Hank
Hanegraaff that had been brought to her attention by close friends and many other
concerned Christians. After an intensive two year investigation into the situation at
CRI, we are now able to publicly address this issue. In 1994, approximately thirty
employees of CRI formed The Group for CRI Accountability in an attempt to hold
Hank Hanegraaff accountable for his actions. He refused to meet with them
individually or as a group.
