Mystical Lewis

Words to Live By

A Guide for the Merely Christian

By C.S. Lewis and Edited by Paul F. Ford

An evaluation of the words of C.S. Lewis [Part 2]

By Charisse Graves

Part 1 of my evaluation focused on Mr. Lewis’ low view of objective truth as contained in God’s revealed word through the Bible, and how the subversion of the authority of Scripture leads into great error.  Mr. Lewis’ poor theology is a result of a lack of biblical understanding and his failure to use Scripture appropriately. The predictable outcome of his errant ideas is the breaking down of the walls of primary doctrines. Such a breakdown leads naturally to Ecumenicalism. This article is primarily addressing a major philosophy that shaped Mr. Lewis’ world and life view, which is subjective spirituality. This philosophy is in direct opposition to objective truth, which would be a reliance on the Bible as “the only infallible rule of faith and practice”, according to the Reformers. This piece is from The Collected Letters of C.S. Lewis, Volume III:

Guadalajara, Mexico

We have a new partnership in missions in Guadalajara, Mexico with Josef and Lina Urban. We purchased more tracts from Randy Alcorn on Heaven in Spanish [ www.epm.org ]to add to the tracts by Mike Gendron in Spanish [ www.pro-gospel.org ] for this table outreach to reach Catholics in Mexico. I sent Josef and Lina a sign in Spanish for their table reading “A Free Gift for You”, just like we have in all our locations: Un Regalo Gratis Para Usted.

The following photos and summaries will touch your heart as you see Josef already ministering at a table outreach to the people of Guadalajara. I used to pray with his wife, Lina, at Grace Community Church when this ministry first began. What a pleasure to now be serving God together in Mexico through this partnership. They will need prayer and more Bibles and tracts in Spanish on a regular basis. They have asked for more Spanish Bibles, and I promised to present that need to all our prayer partners for God to provide. There is no extra money at this time to order more Spanish Bibles for them, so please pray about meeting this need and making a tax-deductible donation for this new outreach location of apologetics in Mexico!

“For from of old they have not heard nor perceived by ear, neither has the eye seen a God besides Thee, who acts in behalf of the one who waits for Him.” Isaiah 64:4

PICKERING/NORTH YORKSHIRE ENGLAND

This ministry of apologetics in the North Yorkshire part of England has a focus on reaching recusant Catholics, atheists, and New Agers. Lighting the Way Worldwide is privileged to partner with William and the team at Ryedale Evangelical Church in resources, including tracts for Catholics, copies of The Light That Was Dark (book by Warren Smith to give to people practicing occult spirituality), tracts warning of the meaning of the yoga positions and yoga meditations, and tracts for Buddhists debunking karma.

Here is how the outreach began back in 2009:

The Jung Cult

(Quotes from The Jung Cult by Richard Noll)

Jung believed he was a god. “Psychoanalysis became the new salvation of the world…Jung’s interest in spiritualism gave him ample experience of how one may deliberately enter a dissociative state or trance that allowed such automatisms as automatic handwriting or even alternate personalities to emerge. Jung had observed this at séances, and indeed his entire mother’s side of the family…seemed to have regularly engaged in discourse with spirits. Jung’s first encounter with the feminine entity he later called the anima seems to have begun with his use of such mediumistic techniques.” (p. 202)

Did C.S. Lewis Go to Heaven?

Read “Did C.S. Lewis go to Heaven?” here as his beliefs are brought to light. The author of the article makes some good points. I guess I never stopped to think that C.S. Lewis was no evangelical and did not want to be named among them. This was due to his beliefs, not personalities, as I am learning now. Why don’t the pastors point this out when they quote Lewis in evangelical arenas? I never knew, until recent independent research, how his own words disparaged his theology.
