Tim Keller Teaches There Was Death Before Adam

In an interview with Tim Keller he was asked:

In The Reason for God, you make a very brief argument for the validity of evolution within a limited sphere. It would seem to me that apologists for the faith must address this issue at some point. But doing so can call into question the historicity of the Fall and the very need for a savior. How do you talk about evolution without confusing people?

A “Messianic Israelite” Book?

Often in the "messianic" American mission field called the "Hebrew Roots Movement" books are read by a man named Lew White. He leaves no wanting for a bizarre message. While reading through the book and looking at its design the thought crossed my mind to get in touch with him and tell him to peddle his books at Venice Beach! The audience would be receptive! His spirit would be right at home there. Maybe this poor guy has a booth there in the summers, and I have just never met him! I did meet one man who said he was with the "12 Lost Tribes" who was convinced he was the Holy Spirit. He really knew the Bible, too. His name was Joseph, and he really seemed to have a solid testimony on the surface, "believing" in "Jesus", reading the Bible daily, being able to quote the Bible far better than most Christians.

Satanism and the Hebrew Roots

A surprising number of “remnant” (as they call themselves) “believers” in the Hebrew Roots Movement are being led to believe that “Jesus” is a pagan name. Many teach that “we have all been taught wrong” and that the “New Testament” and the “church” are not reliable. This is, of course, due to “God” (another pagan name, so they say) not being able to guard His “Writings”, as they put it, down through the ages, allowing believers in the “Bible” (the word “Bible” is another pagan word) to be led astray. The goal seems to be to unlock the conspiratorial mysteries hidden by “evil” pastors and “duped” churches in order to stay away from “Christianized” schemes of Satan such as traditional interpretations of the Bible.

Simple Facts About How the Bible Was Translated

Since the Hebrew Roots’ cultic teaching attacks the veracity of the New Testament, here are some notes on how the Bible was translated, and how we can trust that God preserves His Word. Go to the LTW blog here for the article.

Brian McLaren’s (False) Hope

Excerpts from a video clip featuring Brian McLaren on "Hope":

"…I think our world is, is on a precipice, it’s on the ledge, and we’ve got three, tremendously frightening crises, that we’re facing."

"One is the crisis of how we’re treating the planet. Uh, this is our home, and, and it’s fragile, and it’s beautiful, but it’s also really in danger."

"And um, and second is the crisis of poverty, this huge gap between the rich and the poor, it’s an un… unsustainable system when you have a, a gap like that."

"And the third great crisis is our need for peace, where more and more people have more and more dangerous weapons."

"You take those three crises, and you put them together, and, and it tells us that, uh, that we have to wake up, we can’t just go on business as usual."

The Feminized Church

One of my many favorite scriptures is in 1 Corinthians 16:13,14, Paul writes, "Be on the alert, stand firm in the faith, ACT LIKE MEN (emphasis mine), be strong. Let all you that you do be done in love."

Where are the men in the church? Have you ever asked yourself that question? When I was a new believer it didn’t take me long to figure out that very few men attend church. It really didn’t matter what part of the country I was in, or for that matter where in the world I was living in at the time, it was the same everywhere. Why is that? Why won’t many men attend church? Guys, have you ever heard that church is for pansies? Or maybe you’ve heard real men don’t need church or God? It’s just a crutch for the weak-willed…

Most of the impressions we have of Christ are of a soft man, aren’t they? You see paintings or sculptures of a limp-wristed Jesus patting the children on the head with an almost feminine expression on his face. Misquoting scripture that talks about turning the other cheek or the incorrect view that when a man becomes a believer in Jesus Christ that he all of a sudden becomes a wimp! But is this biblical? No, far from it! The Jesus of scripture certainly was comforting toward others; he embraced children and blessed them and told us we should be like children when we approach God as in Matthew 18:1-3 and Mark 10:13-16.

Questions for the “Latter Rain Answer” to US Economic Crisis

Dear Friends and Family in Christ,

It’s official: The Prophets of the New Order of the Latter Rain are now crawling out of the woodwork to take credit for predicting our present economic crisis, and also have heard from God on how to fix it.

(Strange–I subscribe to many of their lists, and the only thing I’ve heard for month after month is "prosperity" and "multiplication" but maybe I missed something…)

Cindy Jacobs:

"In the Midst of the Shaking, God Has Prepared an Intercessory Thrust!"

God Said, "Call Together My People to Pray for the Economy"

During a worship service at the end of January, the Lord spoke to me in a long, ringing voice, "Cindy Jacobs, the strongman over America doesn’t live in Washington D.C. – the strongman that really rules over this nation lives in New York City! Call together My people to pray for the economy."

[Really? That is God’s great cry to his high-level prophets in the world, at this time in history? To rally intercessors to pray for the economy of the nation? Are you sure it wasn’t the god of Mammon speaking? If this is the best that Cindy Jacobs and "God’s Generals" can do or "hear" then the professing evangelical church is in a really, really bad way. Jacobs really needs to go back and read what God has already said about money and finances… (1 Timothy 6:10, Matthew 6:20-21, 24, 33-34, James 4:3, etc.)]
